Can any type of glasses be repaired? No. We can only laser repair glasses that have a metal break in them. Plastic frames can not be repaired by laser. You can send us a photo by email of the damaged area on your glasses and we can give you a good idea if they can be repaired before you ship them to us. This will save you time and shipping costs. Will the repair be unsightly? Laser welding will not damage the surrounding area and is usually unnoticeable. Occasionally, we will repaint (black) the repaired area to ensure the best possible results. A laser weld can be a small as 2/10 mm. or as large as 2 mm. (A fingernail is 5/10 mm. thick!). We us an Argon gas when welding your frames and this can reduce the likilyhood of noticeable weilding marks. Crazy or Super type glues. Do they work to repair metal frames? Super and cray type glue will not work to fix your glasses. The use of this glue is not a good idea, it does more harm then good. If you have tried to glue your frames back together and now want them to be laser welded. The glue remove becomes a big problem. It has to be ground off your frames. This may damage the finish on your metal frames. So do not use any type of glue to try to fix them, just get the job done right the first time with Laser Mirco Welding by Gems Custom Jewellery. Can you fix eyeglasses with magnets for clip-ons? Yes. If eyeglass magnets are heated with a torch, they will become inactive. The laser welder’s precise energy beam will not damage magnets. Is this Laser repair the only solution to my problem, or will it require others? To repair your metal frams with the laser is the safest method. Since there is very little heat and no oxygen your glasses finish will not be affected by the repair. Most of our clients can't even tell where the glasses were repaired. You may in some cases have to get the frames aligned by your eye doctor. We also do not repair any damaged lens. Only the metal frame work. What happend if the frames can not be repaired? Do I have to pay anything? When your glasses come in for repair we first check them over to see what damage has to be repaired. If we feel that they can not be repaired we will email you and get directions from you as what to do with them. 1 Send them back to you. You will need to only pay $10.00 for shipping in Canada. 2. Donate them to Good Will or other charity. Make sure that we have an email address to which we can contact you or even better is make sure we have a phone number where we can call you. All this information should be on the form you will send us with your glasses. What will it cost to repair my frames? We will give you a price qoute by email before any work is done. In most cases the cost will range for $35.00 to $50.00. Plus shipping cost and all taxes. We will confirm with you the cost of everything at which time we will by phone ask for payment by, Visa, MasterCard, Amex. What happens if the frames brake again in the same place? Send your glassed back to us with the repair recept. We will check our photo files to confirm that the repair required is in the same location as we had repaired. Once this is confirmed we will repair them again for free. You will have to only pay the shipping. If we can not repair them we will refund the original repair cost less shipping. How long is your guarantee? We take pride in our work. It is important to us that you receive the best possible workmanship. All of our repairs on eyeglasses are guaranteed for 30 days. If our repair should break within 30 days of the repair date, simply return it to us and we will either fix your frame again at no charge to you( just $10 for return shipping) or we'll refund your original fee.
